05 October -- Utopians Race for the Cure Albany was packed today as runners showed their support for finding a cure for cancer at the 2002 Race for the Cure. The Utopian contigency was 10 strong, showing the gold for this important cause.
06 October -- Return of the Mac?? Suspicion of a Matt Van Deusen Sighting While combing through results before his 3:20am run, Jim Bowles found a suspicious entry that could prove to be the missing link to finding the lost Matt Van "Don Juan" Deusen. See if you can find Deusen's name at the Pit Run 10k at Oneonta this weekend and you be the judge.
06 October -- Chuckles blazes at Voorheesville 7.1 miler Jason DeRocco resurfaced from his tough coaching and teaching schedule today but his appearance was spoiled by Chuck "Wagon" Terry's nasty 4 minute win at the Voorheesville 7.1 mile race.
12 October -- Team Members Lightning Fast at Race for Literacy 5k John Parisella broke 18 minutes, Jack Reed just missed the same time, Nancy Taormina and Kim DeRocco went well below 20 minutes and Jamie Rodriguez again ran below 15 minutes at the Race for Literacy 5k this weekend. Congrats to each on incredible personal times on this fast course in Albany!
13 October -- USMC Toys for Tots and Easter Seals Half Marathon of Hope a success for Dolge and Terry Charles Terry and Karen Dolge took advantage of a beautiful fall day en route to excellent times at the USMC Toys for Tots and Easter Seals Half Marathon of Hope today.
13 October -- Susie Bacon ducks under 4 hours in successful marathon Susie Bacon was successful in her bid to finish yet another marathon under 4 hours this weekend, completing the 2002 Ocean State Marathon in excellent time. Susie continues to impress with her blazing times. Congratulations to Susie on her great race in Rhode Island!
13 October -- Lauer Pauer! Russ PRs while Taormina debuts at Mohawk-Hudson River Marathon What an excellent day for Team Utopia, as men's participants Russ Lauer, Chris Dunne, Adrian Soto and Parker Race teamed with women Kim DeRocco, Nancy Taormina and Sue Mochrie to post personal bests and personal firsts at this year's HMRRC Mohawk-Hudson River Marathon this Sunday. Congratulations go out to all participants in this year's gorgeous fall event.
20 October -- Utopians venture south of the border to Taco Juan's The team raced for the tacos this Sunday at the Taco Juan's Woodstock 10k. The team raced and ate well at this fun event, which was sponsored by the maker of delicious Mexican-style cuisine.
20 October -- First Cross Country Classic a Solid one for the Team The Saratoga National Bank XC Classic saw five Utopian participants this Saturday. All five said that this 1st annual event was one to return to next year, as the course and organization was outstanding.
26 October -- Kim D wins YMCA Monster Dash The hilly YMCA Monster Dash 5k did not deter the Team's lone runner this weekend. Kim DeRocco blazed to a victory on the challenging course through Troy, NY.
27 October -- Pumpkin Challenge hardly that for Hettrich Dave Hettrich handled the Great Pumpkin Challenge 10k with ease this weekend. This little-known race yielded fast times for both David and his competition.
27 October -- McLean fights the good fight at Marine Corps Marathon Despite nagging injuries, Mike McLean lived up to his end of the bargain, finishing the 2002 Marine Corps Marathon in excellent time. Congrats to Mike on this great accomplishment!
